- Integrated PIN photodiode and trans-impedance receiver
- Digital and analog communications channels
- Full handshake RS232 interface using time division multiplexing (TDM) and Manchester coding
- On-board microphone and speaker
- Built-in microphone amplifier, power supply, audio amplifier, and photo transmitter
