Auto Exploration (40027-70)
The module first presents the history and impact of the automotive industry, followed by an introduction to the major automobile systems (fuel, electrical, electronic, steering, suspension, brakes, airbags, climate control, exhaust, and drive train).
With an interactive software program, students demonstrate their understanding of these systems. Production and automation also are presented, as well as opportunities for related advanced studies and careers.
As the module continues, students further explore the main systems of automobiles. Topics include the operation of heating and cooling systems; components of exhaust and emission control systems; and the production and transfer of power from the drive train.
Using their increased knowledge and skills, students use advanced software programs to design automobiles. Then, they construct models of these vehicles and test their performance.
