Design Level 1 - Tech-World
Students in Design Level 1 begin by identifying a problem and writing a design brief. Then they sketch several possible solutions based on the criteria which they have deemed to be significant.
They learn to read and create technical drawings using mechanical drafting tools and use industry standard CAD software to create drawings that meet the criteria of functionality, safety and ergonomics.
They continue developing their CAD skills by designing products and testing them in simulated conditions of use with a two-dimensional modeling program. After evaluating the test results, students make revisions to the design that will satisfy the safety criteria.
In addition to technical drawing and modeling skills, the Tech-World Design CELL develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a simulated-work environment, building practical skills and self-confidence along the way.
