Research, Design, and Manufacturing Interdisciplinary Project - Tech-World
For the IDP, student teams work intermittently throughout the year to manufacture a product. After studying established business communication skills, they take the learning into their own hands and choose a prototype design problem.
They are then guided through the steps of the process: including conception, design, testing, and marketing. Because students are creating their own product as a team, they quickly learn that to get things accomplished, they must use all the skills that they have acquired throughout the curriculum — not just the technical and practical skills, but also the management and communications techniques.
Each student gets the opportunity to apply critical and analytical problem-solving skills in real-world situations. They experience what it is like to work as part of a project team, and in the process, learn to show real initiative, determination, and dedication.
