Child Development & Child Care
In this module, students explore the development and needs of children. They discover how to care for children while considering their individual levels of physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. Students also learn how to physically care for children while fostering positive self-esteem. Throughout the module, students demonstrate techniques for bathing and feeding an infant, selecting safe toys for children of different ages, providing healthy meals and snacks, childproofing a home, and handling emergencies. In addition, students develop age-appropriate learning activities for children and evaluate a variety of child care environments. This module also describes the skills, education, and training requirements for careers within early childhood education and child care services.
