Network Fundamentals - Tech-Design (40071)

The module begins with an overview of computer networks, including the origins of networks, the components involved, and the advantages they offer in various settings. Students learn about different types of area networks and network topologies, cabling, planning procedures and diagramming software.

With this foundation of knowledge, students progress to more detailed investigation of how networks are created and operated. In-depth study covers network and cable standards, factors affecting data flow, peer-to-peer and client/server network configurations, OSI (open system interconnection), and file and software sharing. In addition, students gain experience with network-diagramming software.
