Air Handling Training System (3404)
Temperature, humidity, and air flow can be controlled separately or together in two distinct zones using local (thermostats and humidistats) or PLC control. The programmable logic controller (PLC) is an Allen Bradley SLC-500 providing on/off control. Proportional-integral-differential, or PID, control of one zone can be achieved using a microprocessor- based process controller.
Features
Features of the air handling system trainer include:
- Exterior air conditioner (warm or cold fresh air)
- Local or PLC-controlled, motor-driven mechanicallylinked mixing dampers to control air flow
- Humidifier and dehumidifier to condition circulating air
- Cooling coil (with condensing unit) and electric preheat and reheat apparatus for temperature variation
- Thermoplastic windows on ducting to allow observation of all air handling devices
- Sixteen fault insertion switches to permit students to develop troubleshooting proficiency
- Fresh air, return air, and exhaust air ducts.
A sound knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning principles, as well as a basic familiarity with PLC programming are prerequisites to the Lab-Volt Air Handling Training System.
