Mechanical Systems Level 2 - Tech-World
Students begin Level 2 with a review the principles and laws of basic fluid power using measurements from the pneumatics trainer.
They perform the necessary calculations and verify the scientific principles associated with the properties of gases. Pneumatic and hydraulic component symbols and graphics are learned and employed in circuit building and testing.
Next, students learn to calculate area and volume of irregular containers and apply this knowledge using different formulas to calculate capacity and fluid flow. They then verify their calculations using the hydraulics trainer.Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills are studied using different types of filters, fluids, and pumps, and determining the best uses for each.
Finally, students turn their attention to the fundamental principles of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) in the industrial setting. They compare the heat energy lost through conduction between glass windows of similar sizes and different R-values. Their examination of HVAC air-supply systems includes component descriptions, pressure conversions, and velocity pressure calculations.
