Tech-Lab FACET CBL User's Guide
The Tech-Lab FACET CBL User's Guide (92023-00) explains how to install, configure, and use the Tech-Lab FACET CBL workstations and programs.
The first section of the User's Guide provides an overview of the Tech-Lab FACET CBL hardware and software program suite. The section, "Tech-Lab FACET Installation Steps," provides instruction for both stand-alone and network configurations.
How to set up and connect the Tech-Lab FACET CBL hardware components is described in "Hardware Installation Procedures." The "Program Installations" section covers the installation of GradePoint 2020? classroom-management system, CBL System/Utilities, CBL Courseware, and Electronics Workbench MultiSIM circuit-design simulation software.
The "Tech-Lab FACET Configuration and Utilities" section explains the Tech-Lab FACET CBL system configuration procedure. The last section of the User's Guide explains how to log on to a Tech-Lab FACET course, and the organization and content of a course.
Student Workbooks
The goal of the Student Workbooks is to provide a hardcopy of useful information about the Tech-Lab FACET Computer-Based Laboratory course that appears on the computer screen. Each workbook is divided into units that correspond to the units in the Tech-Lab FACET course.
Each unit provides the student with the following:
- The Unit Objective
- The Unit Fundamentals
- A list of the New Terms and Words encountered in the unit
- The Exercise Objectives
- A list of the key points covered in the Exercise Discussion
- A space after each section in the unit for student notes.
Instructors' Guides
The goal of this Instructors' Guide is to provide useful information to the instructor on the Tech-Lab FACET Computer-Based Laboratory Course. The guide is divided into units that correspond to the units in the Tech-Lab FACET course.
Each unit provides the instructor with the following:
- The Unit Objective
- The Unit Fundamentals
- Answers to questions that appear in the Unit Fundamentals
- A list of the New Terms and Words encountered in the unit
- The Exercise Objectives
- A list of the key points covered in the exercise discussion
- The circuit modifications (CMs) and faults available for use in the exercise
- A list of goals to be accomplished during the Exercise Procedure
- Answers to questions that appear in the Exercise Discussion and Procedure
- Questions with the answers in bold for all the Exercise Review Questions
- Questions with the answers in bold for the Unit Test
Additional information, where appropriate, includes a photograph of the circuit board, an equipment list, circuit block schematics, and tables listing circuit modifications (CMs) and faults.
Student Manuals and Instructors' Guides
The CBL Student Manuals and Instructors' Guides reinforce the computer-based training. Circuit-modification and fault switches are activated automatically by the software to give students troubleshooting experience.
Pre-test
The Pre-test usually consists of 50 multiple-choice questions with the correct answer and three detractors listed. The questions are designed to determine the student's general knowledge of the course content. The Pre-test score may be used as a benchmark for the students' initial proficiency and competency in the subject.
Post-test
The Post-test usually consists of 50 multiple-choice questions with the correct answer and three detractors listed. The questions are designed to determine the students' knowledge after taking the FACET course. The Post-test score may be used to determine the increase in the students' proficiency and competency.
Answer Pads and Answer Keys
Answer pads for the student and answer keys for the instructor are available for the Pre-tests and Post-tests.
