Electric Power/Controls
The coverage of electricity in the Electric Power/Controls program is oriented towards providing understanding and knowledge of the machines, circuits and systems used to produce, distribute and control electric power in today's domestic, commercial and industrial settings.
Lab-Volt's Electric Power/ Controls program emphasizes hands-on experience with the internal construction, physical workings, and operation of electrical machines. Starting with basic principles of electricity and magnetism, students practice with actual AC/DC power circuits, rotating machines and other electromechanical devices, and gain valuable experience with real electrical power equipment. The study of advanced power control and protection systems, and modern solid-state power electronics devices are introduced in the same hands-on manner. Step-by-step instructions in laboratory exercise manuals guide students to successful completion of courseware objectives, and provide instructors with ready-made training programs that can be easily adapted and modified according to local requirements. Virtual instrumentation software, simulation-assisted training, and computer-based learning programs provide increased flexibility and a new, innovative approach to electric power education.
