Circuit Boards with Manuals

In a FACET System, the student workstation consists of the following components:

  • Student Manual
  • FACET Circuit Board
  • FACET Manual Base Unit
  • Laboratory Instrumentation


There usually are several student workstations in the classroom or laboratory. The instructor may have a workstation identical to the student workstations.

Student Manual
In a FACET System, the student obtains the courseware from a Student Manual. The Student Manual is organized into subject matter Units. The Units are composed of two or more exercises. Throughout the entire FACET course, questions, including those requiring real-number answers, are asked. After each question, there is space for the students to write the answer. The answers are provided in the manual's appendix.

FACET Circuit Boards
There are 30 FACET circuit boards that correspond to the FACET courses.

Each Circuit Board is mounted in a sturdy polystyrene tray for easy handling and connection to the base unit. Each board has a black matte coating to enhance readability of circuit diagrams that appear in white. Circuit blocks on the face of each circuit board contain the circuit diagrams that correspond to the subject matter units in the course.

To permit the examination and testing of several circuits, FACET consists of two-post connectors that students use to quickly configure each circuit. The circuits contain test points for the student to measure the circuit parameters.

FACET Manual Base Unit
There are two versions of the FACET Manual Base Unit. Model 91000-30 has a built-in power supply. Model 91000-00 is without a built-in power supply. Power supplies with different voltages are available.

The FACET Base Unit provides necessary protection and voltage conditioning circuitry to run each FACET Circuit Board. The Base Unit provides regulated ±15 Vdc power and protection to the circuit components.

Laboratory Instruments
The following instruments are available for use in FACET System laboratories and classrooms:

  • Multimeter
  • Dual-Trace Oscilloscope
  • Audio Function Generator
