Manufacturing Processes - Tech-Design (40040)
This module introduces technologies that have simplified manufacturing processes while maintaining, or possibly improving, product quality. Students observe and understand how inductive, capacitive, and fiber optic sensors perform assembly and material-handling functions. They also learn about programmable industrial controls and inventory.
Students use simulation software to develop a ladder logic diagram program, which they use to complete the assembly of a product and test it for sound construction and performance.
The module also includes Lab-Volt's Manufacturing Processes trainer, which contains control devices enhanced with industrial sensors and actuators. With this equipment, students sort and assemble components, and then check the final products for correct assembly.
